OUR MISSION
Our primary purpose as disciples of Jesus is to glorify the Lord. First Worship seeks to provide opportunities for you to engage in leading others in song and praise with the primary purpose of glorifying the giver of our gifts. If you are looking for an area to serve and you have a passion for music, partner with us as we lead others in rejoicing in the Lord!
Meet Matt
Matt Rouse
Minister of Music
I moved to Decatur in July of 2017 and am originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. (Geaux Tigers!) Music has been a part of my life from the day I was born, and I am so thankful I can use the musical gifts God has given me to serve First Baptist. Joanna and I have been married since May of 2019 and stay busy keeping up with all 6 of our kids. We enjoy energetic walks on the Point Mallard trails, quiet nights at home, anywhere there's a body of water, and worship at FBC. We hope you'll join us here sometime soon.

WEDNESDAYS @ 6:00 PM
in the Choir Suite
The power of all of our voices exalting God together is the best part of our Worship Choir experience. Rehearsals are Wednesday nights at from 6:00-7:00 p.m., and they are incredible too. There's no audition required - just come ready to sing. Currently, we sing one Sunday per month, and we provide rehearsal tracks and demos to help you learn the music.
ORCHESTRA
WEDNESDAYS @ 7:00 PM
in the Sanctuary
Throughout the Bible, instruments are used in worship, so our Orchestra is a critical part of our services every week. If you play on a high-school level or above, join us from 7:00 - 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday nights in the Sanctuary to prep for Sunday.
STUDENT CHOIR
SUNDAYS @ 5:00 PM
in the Choir Suite
For middle and high school students, we rehearse at 5:00 PM on Sunday in the Choir Room (except on Sundays that we sing that morning in worship). If you enjoy music and singing, you will enjoy being a part of this choir and helping lead in worship once-a-month.
