Worship is at the core of who we are created to be. When we offer praise to the Lord, we are fulfilling a grand design that helps us better understand why we are here. Each week, we gather together to do just that through music, learning and fellowship.

Rehearsals are scheduled for Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:00 pm in the Choir Suite. Music folders are available to each choir member during rehearsal. During this time, we prepare Sunday’s music, look at the upcoming choral pieces, fellowship and have a time of devotion. Special events will require extra rehearsals and will be scheduled accordingly.

This diverse group is made up of individuals from many ages, abilities and backgrounds. We are doctors, lawyers, teachers, housewives, retirees – just a group of ordinary, everyday people. What brings us together is our love for Jesus Christ. It unifies us, encourages us and transforms us.

The FBC Orchestra assists in leading worship on Sunday mornings during both worship services, our “Christmas on Church Street” programs and other special events. This group consists of individuals who play band instruments, rhythm section, keyboard, piano and organ. Auditions are required to determine skill level.

Rehearsals are held every Wednesday evening, 7:00 – 8:00 pm, in the WorshipCenter.

FAQ

What should I expect?

Worship music at FBC Decatur ranges from traditional hymns to popular praise anthems and usually feature the full Orchestra and Worship Choir. During the summer months, the choir and orchestra take some time off and music is led by piano only or by special ensembles and soloists.

What about my children?

We do offer Choir Care for children in Kindergarten thru 6^th grade so that you may stay in rehearsal for the entire time. Childcare is also available for younger children in the preschool area. A reliable adult will stay with the children in a specified room until rehearsal has ended. To sign up for Choir Care or preschool care, contact the Music Ministry Assistant in the church office.

Do I need my own instrument?

Yes, you will need to provide your own instrument for Orchestra participation.

How do I sign up?

To be a part of the Worship Choir or FBC Orchestra, you may come to one of the Wednesday evening rehearsals or simply contact the Music Ministry Assistant in the church office for more information.
